Niche edits – also called curated links or link insertions – are links placed within existing, already-indexed content. Instead of publishing a new article, we add your link to a relevant piece that’s already ranking and generating traffic.
When done right, niche edits can be faster, more cost-effective, and arguably more powerful than traditional guest posts. When done wrong, they’re a waste of money at best and a liability at worst.
How Niche Edits Work
The concept is straightforward:
- We identify existing articles on relevant websites that make sense for your link
- We contact the site owner and negotiate adding your link to the content
- The link is placed with appropriate anchor text in a contextually relevant location
- You get a backlink from an article that already has authority and possibly traffic
The advantage over guest posts: the content is already indexed, already has its own backlinks, and already has a track record in search. You’re inserting yourself into something established rather than starting from zero.
When Niche Edits Make Sense
- You need faster turnaround. Guest posts require content creation, editorial review, and publication scheduling. Niche edits can often be completed in a week or two.
- You want links from aged content. A link from a 3-year-old article that’s been accumulating authority is different from a link in something published yesterday.
- Budget is a consideration. Niche edits often cost less than guest posts on comparable sites, since there’s no content creation involved.
- The right opportunities exist. Not every topic has existing content worth inserting into. Some niches have more opportunity than others.
When Guest Posts Are Better
Niche edits aren’t always the right choice:
- You want control over context. With a guest post, you control the entire article. With a niche edit, you’re working within existing content.
- You need multiple links. Guest posts can naturally include several internal links. Niche edits are typically single link placements.
- Brand visibility matters. A bylined guest post positions you as an expert. A niche edit is less visible.
Most campaigns benefit from a mix of both approaches.
Our Quality Standards
The niche edit space has a reputation problem. Too many providers sell insertions on PBNs, hacked sites, or content that exists purely to sell links.
Here’s what we require from placements:
- Real websites with real traffic. We verify organic traffic through SEO tools, not claimed numbers. If a site has zero traffic, the link isn’t worth much.
- Genuine editorial content. The articles need to be legitimate content that was created for readers, not link sale vehicles stuffed with outbound links.
- Topical relevance. Your link needs to make sense in context. We won’t insert a SaaS link into a recipe blog just because the metrics look good.
- Sensible outbound link ratios. If an article already has 20 outbound links, adding one more dilutes value. We look for content with reasonable existing link profiles.
- Proper indexation. The page must be indexed in Google. Sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how often this is overlooked.
The Process
- You provide targets. Tell us the URLs you want to build links to, your preferred anchor text (or let us recommend), and any sites to avoid.
- We identify opportunities. Based on your niche and quality requirements, we find relevant existing content that’s suitable for insertion.
- We negotiate and place. We handle all communication with site owners and ensure the link is placed correctly.
- We report back. You receive the live URL, confirmed anchor text, and placement details.
Pricing
Niche edit pricing depends on the target site’s metrics:
- DR 20-30 sites: Lower cost, good for building foundational links
- DR 30-50 sites: Mid-range, often the best value for authority building
- DR 50+ sites: Premium pricing, but significant authority transfer
Most placements fall between £80 and £300 depending on the site.
